OverviewShort-term visa to Hungary (Visa C, which grants the right to stay for a period of six months for a maximum of 90 calendar days in the country of travel / Schengen zone) A visa is only a preliminary permission for entry, which does not automatically authorize its bearer to enter the country. The traveller may be requested to provide proof of the conditions of his entry and stay in Hungary and in case of non-compliance, travellers may be returned from the border. Applicants are required to provide biometric identifiers, such as their photograph and, above 12 years of age, ten fingerprints. Applicants who already provided fingerprints of acceptable quality within the past 59 months are exempt from this obligation. For general information, before applying please consult: https://konzinfo.mfa.gov.hu/en/short-term-stay Applications shall be submitted within 3 months, but no later than 15 days before the planned departure to the Schengen area. Decision on applications shall be taken within 15 calendar days of admission, unless the extension of this deadline becomes necessary due to missing documents or supplementary document submission. If the person is not a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a legal document confirming legitimate staying on the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan (i.e. residence permit) has to be submitted. The legal document has to be valid at least 3 months after the return from Schengen Zone. Visa fee is 90 EURO for citizens of countries which do NOT have a visa facilitation agreement with the European Union. For 6-12 years old children from countries which do NOT have a visa facilitation agreement with the European Union, the visa fee is 45 EURO. Information for family members of EU/EEA/CH nationals The Directive 2004/38/EC (Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council of 29 April 2004 on the right of citizens of the Union and their family members to move and reside freely within the territory of the Member States) extends the right to mobility within the territory of EU/EEA/CH to family members of EU/EEA/CH citizens too. Member States shall grant family members every facility to obtain the necessary visas, as long as the family member travels with or visits the EU/EEA/CH national. Appeal procedure If the visa is refused, annulled or revoked, the applicant has the right to appeal. Appeals can be submitted by the applicant or by a person authorized by the applicant at the Hungarian Consulate within 8 days after receiving the refusal; and 3 days within the date of receiving the decision for the annulment or revocation of a visa. The Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade decides on the appeal within 15 days, and on the appeals against the decision for the annulment or revocation of a visa within 5 days. The fee of the appeal procedure is 160 EUR, which cannot be reimbursed, not even in the case of a positive decision. The appeal decision may be subject to Administrative Court review.
